Ana Claudia Arias is a Professor in the Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences Department at the University of California, Berkeley. Prior to joining the University of California in 2010, she was the Manager of the Printed Electronic Devices Area and a Member of Research Staff at PARC, a Xerox Company, in Palo Alto, CA. She went to PARC in 2003 from Plastic Logic in Cambridge, UK, where she led the semiconductor group. In 2001, she received her Ph.D. on semiconducting polymer blends for photovoltaic devices at the University of Cambridge, UK. Prior to that, she received her master’s (1997) and bachelor’s (1995) degrees in physics from the Federal University of Paraná in Curitiba, Brazil. Her research focuses on devices based on solution processed materials and application development for flexible sensors and electronic systems. Arias is the chair of the Engineering Science Program at UC Berkeley and the chair of the ThinFilm Electronics Technical Advisory Council.
